The Department of Energy (DOE) is changing the way HVAC systems are tested for efficiency. The new SEER2 rating should not be confused with the older SEER rating. SEER2 stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating Ratio 2. The higher the Seer2 rating the better the gas mileage so to speak, the more efficient the system performs.
However, most manufacturers label their equipment with an UP TO rating. Meaning there are other factors that will contribute to how well your particular system will perform.
